So does being a solo founder … work in SaaS?
We’ve dug into this subject a number of instances at SaaStr.
Of the submit ~40 SaaS IPOs, solely 5 or so had solo co-founders. So let’s name that 10%-12% or so. Nonetheless, they’re some good ones: Zoom, Scaler, New Relic, Elastic, and so forth.
Extra on that here:
However that’s of SaaS and Cloud firms that IPO’d. What about throughout all start-ups, and what about bootstrapped start-ups that should be scrappier for longer?
The info is attention-grabbing. General, 17% have a solo founder, vs. 12% or so of public SaaS firms. However 38% of bootstrapped start-ups have a solo founder.
We might draw lots of conclusions from this, however maybe the largest one is in case you begin one thing totally by yourself, with no capital in any respect, you might personal virtually all of it your self. For higher or generally worse. Why surrender a ton of a start-up you self-funded and bought off the bottom by your self?
